The American Institute for Cancer Research’s (AICR) Senior Director of External Relations and Strategic Health Initiatives, Melissa Habedank, attended yesterday’s Congressional reception welcoming Dr. Monica Bertagnolli as the new director of the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
Hosted in the Rayburn House Office Building, it was an honor to speak directly with Dr. Bertagnolli about our shared goals, the unique role that AICR can play, and the cancer community’s collective work to end cancer as we know it.
AICR attended the Congressional reception as a member of One Voice Against Cancer (OVAC), a collaboration of national non-profit organizations representing millions of Americans to deliver a unified message to Congress and the White House about the need for increased financial investments in cancer research and application programs. Increasing federal funding for cancer research, with an emphasis on prevention and healthy lifestyles, if one of AICR’s key federal priority policy areas.
Another warm welcome to Dr. Bertagnolli and much unbridled enthusiasm to begin working together!
