Prevention of Breast Cancer by Retinoids

Project Description

Dr. Ip investigated the mechanisms by which retinoids exert their beneficial effects in cancer prevention and treatment. She sought to determine what effects retinoids have on various nuclear receptors in mammary epithelial cells (MEC). These studies should result in a better understanding of chemopreventive actions of retinoids and result in optimizing the use of dietary retinoids for prevention of breast cancer.
