Project Description
On the basis of new evidence that genes have receptors for retinoic acid (vitamin A) and that these receptors appear to regulate translation of various cell growth codes, Dr. Peacocke has demonstrated that retinoic acid receptor beta (RAR?), a specific receptor, plays a role in suppressing tumor growth. She sought to confirm her hypothesis that vitamin A, and specifically RAR?, may prevent and treat certain cancers by suppressing tumor genes.
