Project Description
Dr. Cramer has demonstrated that postmenopausal women with a history of ovarian cancer exhibit a two-fold increase in the likelihood of expressing a variant galactose transferase (GALT), galactose metabolizing enzyme. Since both breast and ovarian cancers may have a common endocrinologic etiology, Dr. Cramer sought to identify why breast and ovarian cancer share common risk factors and determine the potential of a screening program for women with GALT abnormalities or abnormal hormonal profiles.
