About the Conference:

The AICR Research Conference is a unique forum that brings together researchers and clinicians for a three-day program that is dedicated to increasing knowledge, stimulating research and promoting prevention and treatment of cancer through nutrition, physical activity and weight management.

The 25th AICR Research Conference will take place November 14 - 16, 2016 in North Bethesda, MD.

Basic scientists, clinical investigators, epidemiologists, dietitians, nutritionists, policy makers and other health professionals interested in food, nutrition, physical activity and weight management in relation to cancer.

2016 Registration

Registration for the 25th AICR Research Conference is expected to open in late spring of 2016

*Students must be prepared to show a full-time student ID at registration. Post-doctoral scholars do not qualify for the student rate.
**One-Day registration is for those who plan to attend only one day of the conference. Those who plan to attend more than one day of the conference must select Full Registration.

Certificate of Attendance

A certificate of attendance will be available on request for all registered participants.

Passport and Visa Information

Delegates are responsible for obtaining the required travel documents for entry into the United States. Depending on your nationality, you may need a valid passport with a visa to enter the United States. Delegates are encouraged to contact the United States embassy closest to them for up-to-date travel guidelines.

Invitation Letters

Invitation letters to assist with visa applications for the United States can be provided once the following information has been submitted:

  1. Proof of payment of fees
  2. Full name
  3. Work and home address
  4. Date of birth
  5. Passport number

If you require an invitation letter please email us at Visa applications are not the responsibility of AICR. Delegates are encouraged to submit their applications to the appropriate embassy well in advance of the conference.

About the Hotel

The 25th AICR Research Conference will be held at the Marriott Bethesda North Hotel & Conference Center in North Bethesda, Maryland. The hotel is conveniently located just off the White Flint Metro Station on Metro's Red Line.

Hotel Reservations

A block of rooms has been reserved for conference participants at the Marriott Bethesda North Hotel & Conference Center. Rates are $219 per night (plus 13% state and local occupancy tax). The hotel has agreed to honor the special rate for attendees who arrive up to three days before or depart up to three days after the conference, subject to availability.

Hotel reservations are expected to open in late spring of 2016. Please check back soon for more information on how to make your reservations under the group block.


A standard $15.00 parking fee per night applies to guests with hotel reservations. The daily parking fee for local attendees driving to the conference is $7.00 per day.

Wheelchair access is available in the hotel's front entrance. Guests can access both the hotel lobby and the conference center from this entrance.

Travel Information

By Metro:

The Marriott Bethesda North Hotel & Conference Center is conveniently located near the White Flint Metro Metro Station on Metro's Red Line. An underground tunnel is available to take you from the Metro entrance to the other side of Rockville Pike, where the hotel is located, or you can cross above ground.

Metro will be conducting major repairs on all rail lines through the end of 2016. Please check the WMATA website prior to travel to see if your trip will be impacted.

By Train:

If you take the Amtrak, MARC or VRE train to Union Station, you can take a taxi to the hotel or follow the directions for the Metro above. Amtrak also services Metro's Rockville Metro Station, which is two stops away from the White Flint Metro Station where the hotel is located.

By Air:

The hotel is conveniently located near three major airports.

  • Reagan National Airport (DCA) is the closest hotel and taxi fares are approximately $65 one-way. You can also take the Metro from the airport to the White Flint Metro Station (see above directions for Metro).
  • Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) is located about 40 minutes away and taxi fares are approximately $75 one-way.
  • Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) is located about 50 minues away and taxi fares are approximately $95 one-way. If you arrive or depart on a week-day, you can also take the MARC train from BWI to Union Station, and then take the Metro to the hotel.
