Use of Secoisolariciresinol Diglucoside (SDG) in Radiation Pneumonopathy

Project Description

This study examined whether the dietary lignan Secoisolariciresinol Disglucoside (SDG) activates an ARE-reporter transgenic mouse line and protects wt and Nrf-/- mice against radiation-induced lung injury. The experiments sought to provide important new information on whether SDG lignan from flaxseed inhibits radiation-induced pulmonary fibrosis and whether this is likely mediated through the ability of SDG to induce a number of antioxidant genes.
