Research Type: Breast Cancer
Project Description
There is mounting evidence that cancer risk differs between distinct geographic and ethnic populations, but few established studies exist to investigate populations of non-European descent. This grant supports a unique prospective cohort of 115,314 female teachers from a 12-state area within Mexico where a large proportion of energy intake is from carbohydrates. The researchers will examine the impact of diet, physical activity and obesity on breast cancer risk (particularly in pre-menopausal women) and collect biospecimens for future research.
