Research Type: Multiple Sites Cancer
Project Description
The purpose of this study is to develop and test a program to reduce sitting time and improve quality of life in adults living in rural areas who are undergoing cancer treatment. Adults diagnosed with cancer who move more and sit less report less stress and anxiety, as well as a better quality of life. Dr. Mama’s research group hypothesizes that rural adults undergoing radiation therapy who participate in this program will sit less and will report an improved quality of life. This program will take place at a rural clinic. Participants will attend mind-body sessions and receive text messages to encourage less sitting and more movement. This program aims to improve the physical and mental health of rural cancer patients and will extend supportive care programs and services to rural communities.
