Project Description
This laboratory study is testing the hypothesis that dioxins and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) cause silencing of the tumor suppressor gene BRCA-1, and natural dietary compounds may prevent some of these mechanisms. Experiments include a series of molecular approaches to study modifications associated with the BRCA-1 gene in order to prevent the onset of sporadic breast cancers linked to silencing of the BRCA-1 gene.
