Cancer Chemoprevention by Curcumin: Mechanistic Studies

Project Description

Dr. Limtrakul sought to determine whether dietary curcumin, a food seasoning, would inhibit skin carcinogenesis in animal models. To investigate the mechanism of action by which curcumin affects genetic changes in carcinogen-induced responsive genes, she studied the expression of v-ras and v-fos oncogenes and protein kinase C gene families in the mouse epidermis after treatment with different diets.
