Project Description:

Dr. Friedman investigated the effect of long (LCFA) and short chain fatty acids (SCFA) derived from dietary fiber on colonocytes. Production of TGF beta-1, a differentiation inducing factor for colonocytes and PKC-beta, a marker of poorly differentiated colon carcinoma cells, is measured in response to their exposure to LCFA and SCFA.
