Heal Well: Free Resource for Cancer Patients

Heal Well coverAUSTIN, NEW YORK, WASHINGTON, DC — The American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR), the LIVESTRONG Foundation and Meals to Heal are pleased to announce the release of a free, evidence-based (PDF format) resource: Healthy Eating and Activity for Living, HEAL Well, A Cancer Nutrition Guide.

Scientific evidence shows that proper nutrition during cancer treatment offers many benefits for patients including prevention of weight problems (loss or gain), reduction of some side effects from treatment, and improved quality of life and healthy living into survivorship.

The HEAL Well Cancer Nutrition Guide can help cancer patients and their caregivers manage nutritional issues during and after cancer treatment. Content focuses on managing diet and nutrition during and after cancer treatment, including reducing side effects that can impact nutritional status.

Common questions and myths are also addressed around the role of diet in the development of some types of cancer, use of dietary supplements and the benefits of physical activity for those with cancer.

The “HEAL Well Cancer Nutrition Guide” was developed by AICR, the LIVESTRONG Foundation and Meals to Heal — three organizations committed to providing safe, evidence-based nutrition information for cancer patients, caregivers and for the cancer care professionals who serve them.  For more information about this free PDF resource please visit www.aicr.org (PDF), www.LIVESTRONG.org or www.meals-to-heal.com.
