Go Pink on Purpose for Breast Cancer
Bemis Raffle Prize Winners
GET PINK. Get involved this October and get pink on purpose! Now is the perfect time to start planning your Pink on Purpose fundraiser. It’s your chance to increase awareness and raise funds for breast cancer research in your workplace, community or among friends.
Getting started is very easy. Your event can be as simple as a “Jean Day” at work or a raffle. Be creative! Last month, Bemis Healthcare Packaging Inc. (a medical device packaging supplier) hosted a successful Pink on Purpose campaign raising more than $3,000. Their PEER Team (Promoting Employee Engagement and Recognition Team) decided to support AICR and fundraise for breast cancer, because many of their employees have been touched by this disease. The PEER Team solicited local businesses for in-kind donations and sold raffle tickets to more than 200 of their employees.
Sandra, Human Resources Manager for Bemis Philadelphia, says that in order to have a successful fundraiser, you need to assemble a strong and committed team with a defined goal. Also, assign tasks to each member based on their strengths. Most importantly, have fun!
Events like this are vital. One in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. However, 38 percent of breast cancer cases could be prevented through healthy eating, moving more and staying a healthy weight. Together, we can advance cancer research and save many more lives.
