The Sharon Karpel Kleiman Memorial Fund

Dear Family and Friends:

To keep the memory of our daughter Sharon with all of us, and to give her passing meaning, we have established the Sharon Karpel Kleiman Memorial Fund to fund breast cancer research at the American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR).

This fund is established as a part of the AICR Cancer Research Fund which is invested and provides funding for research. All distributions from this memorial fund will be used to fund breast cancer research.

Sharon Karpel Kleiman was a woman of passion and compassion, learned, energetic and a model of excellence. She was kind, accepting and supportive; big-hearted, focused and motivated. Sharon would not give in to the circumstances in her life. Breast cancer did not stop her from becoming a principal of an inner city school. She was an advocate for her students, their families, her teachers and her staff. Her family had no boundaries. Help us continue our fight to rid women of breast cancer in our lifetime.

Today, we are writing to ask you to participate in remembering, honoring and memorializing Sharon by making a contribution to this fund. This contribution will help the Institute in its important task of furthering scientific research in the area of diet, nutrition and cancer. While scientists understand more about cancer today than ever before, there are still a great many questions about this complex disease. By funding and disseminating cutting-edge research, the American Institute for Cancer Research works to unlock the mysteries surrounding diet, nutrition and cancer.
