Lose Weight the Healthy Way

Experts agree the best way to lose weight is to eat less and move more. In other words, consume fewer calories and burn more. To help you reach this goal and reduce your cancer risk, AICR has developed an effective 3-step approach:

Step 1. Consume Fewer Energy-Dense, High-Calorie Foods

Cut down on sugary drinks and energy-dense foods. Reshape your meals to include a higher proportion of vegetables, fruits, whole grains and beans.

Step 2. Get Physically Active

Raise your physical activity level to help you reduce stress, lose weight and decrease your cancer risk.

Step 3. Cut Back on Oversized Portions

Can’t manage your weight through steps 1 and 2 alone? It may be time to take a look at the size of the portions you're eating.

If these three steps do not lead to gradual weight loss, don't reach for a fad diet book. See a physician or dietitian and ask for a weight loss program suited to your individual needs.
