The Facts About Red and Processed Meat

The Facts About Red and Processed Meat

Researchers have found convincing evidence that eating too much red meat causes colon cancer, with even stronger evidence for processed meats like ham, sausage, pepperoni and bacon. This brochure simply explains the possible links in these meats to increased cancer risk, based on AICR’s Second Expert Report. The report advises limiting red meat (beef, pork and lamb) to 18 ounces per week and to save processed meats for special occasions, like a hot dog at a baseball game or a slice of ham for a holiday. Alternatives to red and processed meats are suggested. (E83-FM)
