Healthy Dessert Recipes

Who doesn’t enjoy a dessert? For all the sweet tooths out there, a dessert is the perfect way to end a meal.

We’ve got a variety of healthy desserts in our recipe collection, from fruity crumbles and cobblers to chocolate mousse and cookies.  Whatever your preference, we have the recipe for you.

Contrary to popular beliefs, desserts can be and often are quite healthy. At AICR, we’ve taken traditional dessert recipes and updated them, swapping out unhealthier ingredients with an alternative to help reduce the fat or sugar contents.

Don’t believe us? Take a look at some of our dessert recipes below. On each recipe page we include the nutritional information for different serving amounts, including details about each of the ingredients and the benefits they provide.

Allowing yourself to have dessert can also help with maintaining a healthy weight, as it helps dispel any view of desserts as a luxury. By eating in moderation and consistently allowing yourself to eat a dessert, you’re more likely to be consistent with your eating habits as well.

Not only can desserts be healthy, many of them can be beneficial for cancer patients too when they contain the right ingredients.

All of our dessert recipes have been specially crafted to support cancer prevention and survival, in line with the AICR cancer prevention recommendations.

These guidelines include aspects such as limiting the amount of fats, starches and sugars, while being mindful of your current diet. If you find a recipe you’d like to try, but you’re concerned it may be a bit too different from your current diet, or you’re not sure about the ingredients which are used, we recommend consulting a health professional.

Many of our dessert recipes contain these healthy ingredients, which have been linked to cancer prevention, and are an essential part of a balanced diet.

You can still enjoy a sweet, delicious dessert, with all of the essential ingredients you need, while keeping your calories low!

It’s worth seeking out Vitamins A, C and D, and minerals such as zinc and calcium, as these give your body the energy it needs to grow and repair.

Several studies have concluded that higher levels of sodium can increase the risk of developing some cancers. For this reason, our recipes tend to have lower levels of sodium.

Our beverage recipes can partner well with our desserts. From mocktails and tonics to lattes and shakes, our drinks are another great option for those in need of a sweet treat.
