Getting Pink On Purpose: Merkel Response
Pink on Purpose events are a great way to spread the word about breast cancer prevention, while raising funds for cancer research. 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. With your help, we can have a greater impact on emerging breast cancer research, treatment interventions and prevention programs in labs, clinics, and communities across the country. Gather your co-workers and have some fun – and at the same time:
- Raise Awareness
- Support Survivors
- Fund Research
Workplace giving is a great way to mobilize the entire office to support and further advance our mission. By joining us in our efforts to end cancer, we are able to continue to invest in research on nutrition, exercise, weight management and cancer prevention. Together, we have the power to make a direct impact on cancer.
Every October for the last five years, Merkle Response turns pink for their Annual Pink on Purpose Event to support AICR. What began as a small event in 2008, Pink on Purpose (POP) at Merkle has grown each year as Pink activities are added and more employees join the fun! Each year, special events are held to encourage employee participation while they raise money for this great cause. Many employees wear pink and the one who wears the most is crowned “Pinkest Person” each year. New for 2012, employees also had to opportunity to purchase a pink Merkle shirt, custom made just for Pink on Purpose. A Pink Raffle is held with employee-donated items. Employees also display Memorial/Honor Pink Ribbon signs in their Media Center to recognize their loved ones lost as well as survivors.
In 2012, opportunities were also offered to incorporate Merkle’s Employee Wellness Program. Several tables with pamphlets and educational materials were set up in their Media Center for the employees to explore. In addition, employees could attend a free breast cancer awareness seminar that was offered by theit EAP provider. The 1st Annual Pink Walk, a 2K walk around the office neighborhood, was led by one of their fitness trainers. The walk was a huge success with over 50 employees participating over their lunch time. They are looking forward to the 2013 Pink on Purpose in October!
