Dr. Shiverick investigated whether dietary isoflavonoids from soy have any inhibitory effect on androgen-sensitive and androgen-independent prostatic carcinoma cells, both in culture and in nude mouse xenografts, in addition to studying the mechanism of growth inhibition by the isoflavones.
