Title:

The Role of Lipids in the Proliferative Signal Transduction Through p21 ras Protein

Key words:

cell division, c-ras oncongene

Research Institution:

Cleveland Clinic Foundation

Location:

Ohio

Researcher:

Mladen Golubic

Project Description:

Dr. Golubic studied the intracellular mechanisms by which dietary fat plays a role in regulating cell division. Dietary fat may interrupt a major regulating protein in cells (c-ras oncogene) allowing the cell to continue to divide uncontrollably and increasing the possibility for cancer to develop.
