Dr. Boyd sought to determine if a change to a low-fat, high-carbohydrate diet can reduce human mammary epithelial cell proliferation in benign breast disease and lower breast cancer risk. A quantitative image analysis system was used to evaluate needle biopsies of breast epithelial cells.
