Project Description:

This study identifed the signalling pathways affected by caloric restriction that infuence tumor suppression and longevity. The hypothesis was that caloric restriction activates AMP-activated protein kinase, which phosphorylates and increases the activity of the FOXO family of Forkhead transcription factors, resulting in the inhibition of cell growth and/or apoptosis.
