Project Description:

This study examined the role of interactions between vitamin D and calcium in prostate carcinogenesis. A novel and intriguing hypothesis was tested to explain the relationship of elevated prostate cancer risk associated with higher calcium intakes, specifcally that the dietary calcium blocks the hydroxylation of 25-OH D to 1,25(OH)2D in the kidney, in a mouse transgenic model.
