Project Description:

This study was designed to determine if gamma-tocopherol, one of the tocotrienols of vitamin E, induces growth arrest and apoptosis in colon cancer cell lines through a peroxisome proliferator activated receptor (PPAR)-gamma mechanism. This research was based on epidemiological studies suggesting that vitamin E negatively correlates with the incidence of colon cancer, and that the anti-proliferative effects of vitamin E are associated with PPAR-gamma.
