Vitamin D and Cancer Updates
Questions involving vitamin D and cancer risk has spurred numerous research studies. Now the National Institutes of Health Office of Dietary Supplements (NIH/ODS) has updated their previous systematic review with the studies investigating the relationship between vitamin D, calcium and a combination of both nutrients on a range of health outcomes.
The update also provides summary comments. For overall cancer risk and cancer mortality, for example, the update report finds that the totality of studies suggest no or complicated association of 25(OH)D status with cancer mortality.
Specific cancers the update includes are:
- prostate cancer
- breast cancer
- pancreatic cancer
- colorectal cancer
